A Follow Up On Our Last Post. More Free SEO Tips.

Most of these are SEO no no’s. Many of you already know these but some will need to fix the errors. I thought it could help more than a few people.

Keywords and Stuffing
For search engines we  recommend writing keyword rich content but not not overloaded with keywords. Content or META tags full of keywords is considered SPAM and will get you a penalty. Your keywords should used in a proper sentences which give a relevant meaning to the context (reader friendly). This will not only help readers but search engines as well. Then focus on the balance and density page/meta data.

Duplicate Content Rule
Having the same post  or stolen content. It doesn’t matter, it’s seen as duplicate content if it is the same as another page. Most people do it by accident, content management system or the website shopping cart creates it without knowing it even happened. Fix it! Average of 30 spots we tested it.

Hidden or Tiny Text
Many people try to trick search engines by hiding the text either using CSS hidden div, or by matching the text color to with background color. Some try to use tiny text for search engines and not the reader. Search engines can detect such spamming techniques easily and search engines highly penalize those sites/pages.

Graphics & Flash
Search engine’s crawlers are not able to read the images but the Alternate Text on the images but not actual images. A website is with a lot of graphics, navigation buttons or Flash. To avoid this it’s be is no good for SEO. Instead of images CSS can be used and it will not only help in reducing the markup but also provides compatibility with web browsers. Also optimize your alt tags with top keywords. Flash animations are not recommended to use. Search engines are learning but using flash animation should be limited (has no benefit from search engine’s perspective).

Frames
Don’t use frames ever! Search engine’s crawlers are not able to reach to the content of the pages. Therefore your website may not be indexed or have trouble with indexing. So in order to be friendly with the spider; website structure must be simple and easy to navigate so that you web pages get indexed properly by the search engines.

Search Engine Friendly URLs
Search engines like simple and friendly URLs. If your website having complex URL’s which include query strings like: P-13? or some crazy thing you need to fix it.  For WordPress – http://www.seocompanyservices.com/blog/….= /postname/ ….for Straight HTML just use /kewords-keywords.html. Here is an example of search engine friendly URL is like:http://www.seocompanyservices.com/blog/seo-search-engine-optimization/
Is given more credit, because its not only very simple but also very friendly to understand. In a case where the URL is simple but it’s too lengthy and going into deeper directory structure, then it also won’t be that much beneficial. Therefore the URLs must be simple and short to get more feasible for the visitor and search engines.

Improper Site Structure
Site structure is basically your internal linking structure. The proper website structure shows the integrity between the pages and must be tied together well to do good in search engines. Comprehensive internal linking between the pages of the website builds cohesive organization and using keywords in the anchor text will rank higher in the search engines.  A site map will be great for crawler, as it is taken as a guide map for crawling the web pages and also and aid for the visitor to browse.

Back Linking
Back links are the most important factor of any search engine optimization campaign. You must use your keywords in the anchor text and make the process of building backlinks look natural. Link building is given high value by all the search engines. Back-links are the key to success for any seo campaign and helps rank in the search engines.

Mirror Websites / Doorway Pages

If you have multiple website with the same content as mirror website, that’s SPAM. Some people use redirection extensively or redirecting from one domain to another domain. Doorway pages are those pages which are just stuffed with the keywords and used to trick search engines. Usually, doorway pages are used to fool the crawler by stuffing a lot of keywords in anchor text just to build the relevance. When the page is visited for those keywords which are anchored, then a redirection is made to another website or webpage.
