Well we were accepted into the Google Voice program a couple of weeks ago. I have been going through all the feature and love it. I hope this is here to stay! I like the way it ties in with Gmail and gives you a transcript of voice mail. There are many other options but those two are my favorites. The look and feel are a mix of Google Talk and Gmail. It is great that it is all tied in in with your Google accounts but it takes us back to the privacy issue. If you are worried about privacy don’t use any Google services or any free web service for that matter. I personally don’t care what data of mine they capture, since I ultimately can control all the info. they receive or even mess with the data to skew the results.
Now that we have cleared up the privacy concerns, here are some cool features.
- Voice mail with transcripts.
- SMS service with free credit.
- GVoice Credits for using Google Checkout.
- Do not disturb and call recording.
- Log of placed and received calls.
- Choice of local numbers.
I can’t wait to see the next thing Google comes out with. Hopefully it will be a better search engine!
