Well it looks like Google has updated again. Have you been watching your back links or Page Rank lately? You may have seen changes in both in the last week. I think this is from another Google update. Although who really knows besides the people at “G”.

If you have been looking at you links. You will notice the back-links they used to show do not show up anymore when you do the link command in Google search. Just put the command in the search box we used our site below.

The other thing we is Page Rank has been jumping around and has now changed  a number of our web pages. I know that PR is always flowing but we normally don’t see those changes in the bar so when we do it usually means an update. Watch the search engine rankings and i bet you will see a few changes as well!

I Would hold off on adjustments until we are all sure that this is an update and the algorithm has been analyzed by a few seo’s. Many times fluctuations settle down after a week anyway so there is need to do a lot of until then.

Do search engine rankings really matter anymore? The answer may sound surprising coming from an SEO but the answer is NO! Yes, I said no, but it is not that simple. The real measure for success in my opinion is website visitors and you can get that without natural search engine rankings. Then I look at the quality of the traffic coming to the site (conversion rates /sales). People just put way too much stock in rankings. Remember number of times a particular term is searched in the natural results changes all the time, that’s another reason why we do keyword research on regular basis.

So should you stop trying to rank your website. No, not at all. Just focus on more on quality traffic. Here are a few ways to boost website traffic if your rankings are good or bad.

Social sites - Sites like Twitter, Facebook and other networking websites can bring just as much traffic if not more than a search engine can. If do a big social media campaign you could blow away your past records for unique visitors. Also, these sites tend to bring repeat visitors witch is another overlooked benefit. Return visits or visitor loyalty can also help tour natural search engine rankings as well.

Advertising – Another way to get good traffic is to advertise on other websites. Running ads can help but only if you choose the correct places to run the ads. I prefer content related sites using text links ads, no not the company. Finding the right sites and a good deal can be challenging but you can reach a lot of people and boost your organic rankings. Banner ads also work as long as they are do follow links and the website has good stats!

If you work hard at social marketing and advertise on the right sites you will find success. Not to mention reduce your stress level. I hope this helps you build your website traffic and visitors to record levels.

Why are we only offering this for new SEO Service for local clients?

The reasons for this are simple.  First, Atlanta and the entire state of Georgia has been hit harder than other parts of the country by the slow economy. We want to be a part of helping companies hit hard in our area rebuild.

Google Insights for search now has graphs of your search results you can add to your own website. We also use scripts for presentations by creating special pages. We of course used the search term SEO for our sample. Click on the script below to take you to the actual Google Insights search for the term SEO.  You can add it to your iGoogle page if you wish to track term over a long period without having to constantly check. I prefer Insights because Google has tons of great data.

Yahoo’s site explorer has always been a better source for information on website links. Recently I noticed that things are starting to change with Yahoo Site Explorer. It left me wondering if they might change the system? Maybe a potential partner, Bing or even Google working on algorithm? Who knows with the last few test. I am referring to Yahoo using Google’s search technologies for paid search. I hope that Yahoo and Bing combine but to really compete they are going need more than a search engine, tools, apps, all the cool stuff Google offers.

That does not appear to be the case. It was my tools being blocked and showing incorrect data. Search engines often do this when queries from seo’s cause a strain to the old system. I upgraded to the new FireFox today, updated plug-ins and SEO Quake. Everything is working again except the Yahoo index show zero but manual search shows over ten pages or 100 plus pages.

The links and link to domains show close to the same numbers but are a bit lower, somethings changed? We will see what happens over the next few weeks and write a new post on our discoveries.

SEO Marketing Purchases a New Website, Theappssite.com

We purchased a new domain name to put our test applications on for the Iphone. We got a great new domain name www.theappssite.com. We intend to make this a site not just for Iphone apps,  but hacks, tweaks and how to videos. The first couple of apps we develop will be free for testing and the rest we should have on our site as well as the Apple Store.

The design of the new site began today and will have that Mac / Apple feel to it. We are still evaluating the best software for developing iphone applications, Unity 2.5 seems to be our favorite so far. They have made a ton of improvements with Unity 2.5. Anyway, the software trial runs out this weekend so we will be started by then.
